um ... zu + verb infinitive
Beispiele:
Ich gehe in die Disco, um eine neue
Freundin zu finden.
OR:
Um eine neue Freundin zu
finden, gehe ich in die Disco.
(English: In order
to find a new girlfriend I go to the disco.)
Wir besuchen eine Website, um Informationen
über Österreich zu finden.
Wir wollen Informationen über Österreich, um unsere Urlaubsreise zu planen.
Notice that in English we often leave out the words "in order" 
We want info about Austria to plan our holiday trip.
Notice that the verb is in its infinitive form (the way your dictionary lists it), following "zu". The two halves of the sentence are separated by a comma.
What to use? um...zu + infinitive OR just zu + infinitive?
If, in the equivalent English sentence, you can replace to with the words in order to, then
use um...zu + verb infinitive!
